Back School

The Back School is a defined and structured programme of information about back pain aimed at developing skills to prevent and manage discomfort.  The aim is to acquire knowledge about the functioning of the back and a set of prevention techniques in order to strengthen and make it more flexible.

The Back School is effective in reducing the risk of back pain, its objective is that patients really apply the knowledge imparted during the course in their daily lives, which is why the teaching methodology and the means employed are as important as its contents.

Specifically, the objectives pursued by the Back School are the following:

  • Prevent back pain by intervening on factors that contribute to the development and evolution of low back pain and applying the care and protective body mechanisms taught in the course.
  • To reduce back pain, if it has already occurred, by applying the appropriate techniques.
  • To educate the student in order to generate a change of attitude towards their symptoms, making them more responsible for their problem and involving them in its evolution.
  • To demystify back pain, which in most cases is a symptom.

The Back School is structured in approximately seven modules/topics in which theory and practice are combined, depending on the needs of the person.

The back school is provided at our physiotherapy centres in Amara and Zarautz.
