The network of collaborators of MatiaZaleak launches an initiative to respond to the needs of the war initiated by Russia against Ukraine.

This Saturday, March 12, a dozen people will set off for Poland by road. A bus will be chartered to take food and basic necessities to the Polish-Ukrainian border, exactly to the city of Hrubieszow. Each organization is contributing:

  • Bufete Barrilero: logistics and management support.
  • Eroski: food
  • Euskontrol: logistics
  • TrangoWorld: warm clothes and other supplies
  • Mainfarma: medicines
  • Palacios Alimentación: food products
  • SOS Himalaya: warm clothes
  • Energizer: batteries and flashlights
  • Ayuntamiento de Becerril de la Sierra
  • Ayuntamiento de Tres Cantos
  • Asociación Udana Nepal
  • Fundación Fenie Energía
  • Pajes Mágicos
  • Alex Txikon: logistics and management support
  • MatiaZaleak: Health workers and equipment, management support and volunteers.

In addition to these entities, the initiative has the collaboration of individuals who have supported the cause through contributions of various kinds.

Once this material has been distributed, the bus will return with about 60 refugees so that they can start a new life in the Basque Country. The reception of these people will be articulated through the reception network enabled for this purpose by the Basque Government.

Crowdfunding

On the other hand, a collection of economic donations is being launched to be able to purchase basic necessities and assist people who are at the cross-border crossings in supermarkets set up in Poland for this purpose. These supermarkets are selling the products at cost price and respond to the needs of thousands of refugees "in situ" and can be distributed with greater ease and efficiency to people who unfortunately are having to leave their country. These donations can be made through the page enabled on the website MatiaZaleak
